"Be bold and courageous. When you look back on your life, you'll regret the things you didn't do more than the ones you did." H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

I'll often hear people use the expression "life is too short". I totally get this, as I creep (ok – fly like a frickin jet plane!) up past my 4th decade on this planet… it does go fast.
Yet, as the Queen of Re-frame that I am, I often see this from the other side.

What if: Life is too LONG to not have fun, take risks, laugh out loud and do all those things that you wish you could? The way I figure it, I'm going to spend roughly a century rattling around on this planet – that's a LONG time! I want to enjoy, savour, dance, sing, play and live the life with the time I have.

What if my mission is to stretch and use that time in the most creative and illuminated ways that I can imagine?
What if my mission is to make as many people as possible laugh, dance, sing and play their way to success?
What if my mission is to be the best me that I can be?

So, for me, when I think and feel into life being short, I get a sense of contraction and I find it a bit stressful. When I think and feel into life is too long to waste, it makes me laugh and gives me a sense of freedom and motivation to move forward and grab life by the tail and swing…

Now, how this shows up in my business life…
I take more chances.
I love my work with all my heart.
I change things when they don't feel good quite quickly.
I ask friends and family for help (working on this one…)
I look for what is funny, sweet and lovely in each moment and in each person
I bring my dog to work so I can feel free to stay for the hours it takes to build a brand new business
I spend money to make money
I look for people and things to feel grateful for every moment
I surround myself with clients and friends that I truly love
I play as often as possible
I look for innovative ways of doing and seeing things
I re-frame my attitude on a daily basis to keep my outlook fresh

I remind myself that in reality, I KNOW nothing, so I ask what do I need to know, see and do in each moment.

… and you, what do you do to make your (inner and outer) world a better place for yourself?

David Lee Roth said it best "You can't take life so #*$^in' seriously, man, 'cause no one gets out alive. Hear what I'm sayin', Baby?" Have some fun while you're out there Rockin in the Free World.

What do you think?

Bright Blessings

We've all heard it in some form or another, "I want a Lady on the Street, but a Freak in the Sheets".
Yeah, you're reading right, I'm actually talking about how some men will say they want a woman who acts like a lady when out in public and is uninhibited behind closed doors.
{SideStream: Gentlemen, women have their own version of this, too – you may want to ask the woman in your life (or the woman you want in your life) what her version of this is… }
Why is this a common refrain?
Well, it makes sense. The people saying this want someone that they feel is in alignment with their representative values in public. For instance, someone they can feel proud to introduce to friends and family, someone who accurately reflects who they are. At the same time, Read more on Lady on the Street…

We all have our business plans, right?
Ok, even if you don't have a strong business plan, you have a vision for your business and what you want to contribute to the world, right? You have spent time deciding what you want, and how you want it.
But… have you asked your business what it wants and how it wants it? Have you asked your business what it wants from you and for you? Have you asked your business what it needs and how it wishes to get its work out into the world in a more effective and profitable way. You may be surprised with the answers you receive when you do. {SideStream: This can apply to anything in our life, asking each aspect of our life these questions can give profound insight and open new directions)

What if our businesses are entities with unique purposes in themselves? What if Read more on Have You Asked Your Business?…

What do you think of when you read "terrible twos"?
When I hear this expression, my mind flashes to an image of an exasperated parent desperately trying to get his/her little… ummm… "darling" under control. Meanwhile the little "darling" is screaming bloody murder and/ or destroying the fine china shelf at the department store.

You may ask:
What does this have to do with my business?
Bear with me, this winding journey will all come around by the end…

The "Terrible Twos", in this context, is when we give ourselves only two choices, see only two options or think there are only two directions we have to choose between.
Let's face it, Read more on Terrible Twos…
